Andrew Smith, Commercial Director
With more than 20 years’ experience in commercial leadership, Andrew brings together expertise in property, technology, data and business growth to help shape Nova’s commercial strategy and partner relationships.
Before joining Nova, Andrew spent 11 years with CoStar before moving into senior commercial leadership roles across PropTech, SaaS and technology businesses in both the UK and overseas. Throughout his career, he has worked with organisations at different stages of growth, helping build the structures, partnerships and processes needed to scale successfully.
As Commercial Director, Andrew is responsible for driving sustainable growth across Nova. Working closely with referral partners, introducers and internal teams, he focuses on creating partnerships that deliver long-term value while ensuring the experience for clients remains at the centre of every decision.

Building for Growth
For Andrew, growth is about far more than increasing volume.
He believes that successful businesses create strong foundations first, building the right teams, processes and partnerships before accelerating growth. This approach helps ensure that service quality and client experience are never compromised in pursuit of commercial success.
By focusing on sustainable development, Andrew helps Nova create partnerships that continue to evolve and deliver value over the long term.
Technology with Purpose
Having spent much of his career in property technology and data businesses, Andrew understands the role innovation can play in transforming traditional industries.
He believes conveyancing has a significant opportunity to embrace better use of technology, automation and data to improve communication, reduce friction and create greater transparency throughout the transaction process.
At the same time, he is clear that technology should support people, not replace them.
For Andrew, the most effective solutions combine modern technology with experienced professionals who can provide guidance, support and reassurance when it matters most.
The Foundations of Successful Partnerships
Andrew believes the strongest partnerships are built through openness, adaptability and consistent communication.
While every partner operates differently, he sees communication as the common thread that underpins every successful relationship. Understanding how a business works, what its clients need, and how those needs may change over time is critical to creating lasting success.
His approach is centred on listening first, understanding challenges and then working collaboratively to create solutions that benefit everyone involved.
Looking Beyond Traditional Conveyancing
Andrew is passionate about innovation and believes the conveyancing sector has a unique opportunity to evolve.
As digital conveyancing continues to develop, he sees significant potential to create more efficient, predictable and transparent transactions. However, he believes the future of the industry will belong to organisations that successfully balance technology, service and human expertise.
For Andrew, improving the home-moving experience requires both technological progress and a commitment to understanding the people behind every transaction.
What Partners Can Expect
Partners working with Andrew can expect honest conversations, commercial insight and a long-term perspective.
His focus is on building partnerships that create sustainable value, supporting growth while maintaining the service standards and client experience that underpin lasting success.
By combining strategic thinking with a practical understanding of property, technology and commercial performance, he helps partners identify opportunities, overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
In Andrew’s Words
“Conveyancing is ultimately a people business. We can use technology to improve the process, but behind every transaction are people trying to move home, agents working to keep things progressing, and professionals helping make it happen.”

Questions Andrew Often Gets
“Communication, communication, communication. Beyond that, successful partnerships require the right people, structure, flexibility, and capacity. The best relationships are the ones where both sides are open about what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change.”
“It’s the combination of people, service and technology. Technology can make conveyancing faster and more transparent, but it shouldn’t remove the human element. We’re focused on combining both while continually looking for opportunities to improve the way things are done.”
“Excellence has to come first. Growth that damages the experience isn’t really growth. Sustainable growth comes from listening to partners, understanding client needs and ensuring the right people, processes and capacity are in place.”
“Digital conveyancing will have a significant impact. Better use of data, automation and technology can remove friction and improve the experience for everyone involved. The opportunity is to use those tools to support people, not replace them.”
“If we can combine genuinely good technology with excellent people, strong communication and a willingness to listen, there’s a huge opportunity to make the experience better for everyone.”
